What do you do with equipment that has reached the end of its natural life?
![]() With the ever increasing pace of new computer equipment and software being released, and the demand for more powerful computers to handle the latest graphics software, Litchfield Morris has over time gained a collection of aging equipment. Although all the equipment is still in working order, it is neither powerful enough or unable to be upgraded to handle the current software available. Some of the kit also uses old interface systems not available on modern systems. Litchfield Morris therefore, not wishing to just dump the equipment into landfill, have donated the collection to a local charity that refurbish the computers, safely scrubbing the hard drive so no data is recoverable and send them to the developing world, where they will fulfill a useful purpose. The equipment that is not suitable for this task is dismantled and the component parts melted down for the precious metals (gold, zinc, platinum, copper) which is then sold and the profits fed back into the charity. |
